What is Layyah?
Layyah is the name of a city of Pakistan. It is located at the center of country's map in the Punjab province, It is a district (county) of Dera Ghazi Khan (D.G Khan) division. Name:
Layyah derives its name from the wild short shrub commonly known as Layyan. District:This city was used to be a tehsil (sub county) of district Muzafargarh and was carved out as a district in the year 1982. It has 3 tehsils as following: 1. Layyah 2. Karor 3. Choubara |

Layyah Map :
Geographia :Location : Layyah is situated between the river Indus and Chanab in the central area of Pakistan. Bhakkar district is in the north, Muzafargarh is in the south, Jhang is in the east and D.G Khan is in the west across the river Indus. This is in semi rectangular shape and has a sandy land. Area : Total area of the district is 6291 sq. KM . It is 88 KM long from east to west and 75 KM wide from north to south. Climate and general soil condition:The district has an extremely hot climate an average is +43 degree centigrade in the summer and +10 degree centigrade in the winter. The temperature in the winter is low dur to nearness of Koh-e-Suleman mountains range. The tehsil Chaubara is almost barren and consists of forest and sand dunes. It is actualy a "Rakh" under the control of forest department. The tehsils of Layyah and Karor are comparitivly better developed agriculturally but they have also large tracks of sand dunes and uncultivated land. The river Indus passes from north to south on western side of the district and touches D.G Khan. |
