Sardar Khan Warraich Memorial Foundation
Introduction
The foundation works for the benefit of less fortunate members
Of The society living in a backward area in the vicinity of village 144TDA, where late Mr. Warraich lived. He died there in 1981, at the age of 82. His son established the Foundation in 1998, upon his return to Pakistan after 22 years service with the United Nations. Main focus of the welfare work of the Foundation is on Education and Health.
The welfare work of the Foundation is funded entirely by the Founder, his family and a few very close personal friends. The Founder however appreciates the cooperation of education and health authorities of the District Government.
First seven years of community service
1. Distributed more than 8,000 text books; 10,000 note books; 1,500 school uniforms and also cash prizes of Rs. 90,000/ for outstanding performance among school; going children (boys and girls) of poor parents in the area.
2. Paid over Rs.100, 000/ as a special assistance to the community students in higher institutions in major cities, including Lahore.
3. The Foundation has helped some Government schools in the area in improving educational facilities. A few are listed below:
v Middle school Chak No. 144 TDA: Construction of complete new additional land for its upgrading to high.
v High school for girls Chak No. 279 TDA: Complete laboratory equipment and a computer.
v High school for the boys Chak No. 133: A computer, laboratory equipments and some much needed furniture.
4. Other welfare activities included the following:
v
Six eye
operations for the poor and also more than
Rs.100, 000/ for other medical expenses of members of poor families.
v A feasibility study prepared for a hospital (BHU) in Chak 144 TDA, with cooperation of District Government.
v Donated to the health Department 3 acres of prime land for the proposed hospital. The project, awaits formal approval of funds from the Government of the Punjab.
v Has paid more than Rs. 300,000/ - to help poor families in urgent need.
